Contact...B^)
As of yesterday night, our satellite dispatches have been integrated into the Secret Spot Denali Expedition website!
I'm using a HP iPac with Contact 3.0 software connected to an Iridium satellite phone to do these dispatches. Hands down...very cool. B^)
I miss the speed of the BGAN I use for our SecretSpotEverest project(s)...but the Iridium devices are allowing me to communicate from ANY where...ANY time! Special thanks goes out to Eric and Byron of the Satellite Phone Store for making all of this happen.

Dispatch from summit ridge (4500ft) while in the Chugach mountains in Alaska
By subscribing to this blog, you'll be able to virtually explore Alaska and virtually climb Denali with us. Do it! =^]
I sent a test dispatch with the iPac/Iridium combination from the summit ridge of Black Tail Rocks...and we did indeed have contact from a remote and spectacular location. Very lovely for us. B^)
We started our hike at 1500ft and climbed up to 4500ft. Nice and easy...chocolate cheesy. =^P

Iridium Dispatch
I also sent a voice dispatch. You can listen to that by pressing the play button below.
Every dispatch will be available at the Secret Spot Denali website ...as well as in this SecretSpotEverest blog! By subscribing to this blog you will get alerts each time we post a dispatch from these Secret (and not so secret) Spots that we are exploring.

Black Tail Rocks Sunset

Phill with Sunset and Denali in the distant background(right)
Our descent from Black Tail Rocks was interesting. The lighting was outrageous...and we could see Denali in the distance. We could also hear people calling for a 'lost' Jack Russell Terrier named 'Freckles'. Soon we were all calling, 'Frecklessss!!"...and sliding around in the mud. I did a classic head plant into a bush...that was preceded by a bone crushing shoulder roll...while continuously laughing. Too bad that wasn't captured on video.
We are about to roll out to a Secret Spot on the Kenai Peninsula. It will be simply beautiful! =^)
Until Soon
