From Nepal to Your Computer...
Hi all...Chris here.
As you have no doubt noticed, Phill is currently in Kathmandu, about to depart on the Shipton Tillman Trek...a traverse of most of the country of Nepal from South to North. The trek was named after Eric Shipton and Bill Tillman who were two British explorers of the Himalayas. You can read a little bit about the regions they explored HERE!
Phill will be in regular communication thanks to the efforts of Eric at the Satellite Phone Store!

He has the latest in BGan Satellite Modem technology as well as the iPAQ PDA that he used on Denali. With the iPAQ and the Sat modem, he will be doing daily text and picture dispatches along the trek. These dispatches will be displayed immediately on the new home page for the Everest Freestyle Expedition.

The dispatch entries will then be mirrored on this blog by either Scott or myself. Along with the daily text and picture dispatches, Phill will also be posting a short video or two per week. This video will be posted as a regular dispatch, mirrored on this blog, and will also be posted as a Bonus Video on Secret Spot.TV!! So if you have subscribed to our SecretSpot.TV podcast series, these videos will automatically downloaded to your computer as a podcast!

We hope that this will only be the beginning of what we will be able to achieve with this new technology. If all goes as planned, Episode 7 of our SecretSpot.TV podcast will spotlight the Satellite technology, filmed as a three-way video conference between Phill in remote Nepal, Eric of the Satellite Phone Store in Florida, and me in California! Look for that episode to air in November. To wet your appetite, I will be posting a short 'teaser' that Phill and I filmed before he left for Nepal. That will be online tomorrow!
Please remember that, while Phill will have email access, bandwidth on the Satellite modem is very expensive...so please do not include any attachments on your emails to him!
I also want to encourage you to leave us comments here on the blog. We will be starting to post select comments so that you can read what others in our community have to say!
Cheers for now!
-Chris
