Swayambunath...the Monkey Temple

Up ancient steps we climbed and suddenly we were greeted by a superb view of Kathmandu...and a few simians! I've been up to the Monkey Temple before...and it's always worth a visit. B^)

Some Monkeys at Swayambunath (The Monkey Temple)

Check out the home page of www.secretspoteverest.com and locate a video about this mystical place. There is also a short sidebar about the Monkey Temple on the 'Sherpa' page on the same site. Surf over that way...and you might win a prize! =^]

Today, we were joined by the illustrious Cash French. He's an all around great guy and he's busy taking some significant time off from his waterfall building business. Yes...you read that correctly. Check out www.frenchswaterscapes.com ...and you will see exactly what I mean.

Cash, Dana, Caroline and Phill at the Monkey Temple

Some major festivals and religious holidays are about to take place in Kathmandu, but we will soon be on our way and off on the Tilman Trek. I'll try to elaborate about the festivities and such in a subsequent dispatch.

Butter Lamps at the Monkey Temple

We just packed up about 132lbs (60kgs) of collective climbing gear that is to be sent to Mera Base Camp...and we've each got a maximum of 33lbs (15kgs) of trekking gear to start the journey properly. There will, of course, be food and other kit...so we'll likely have a half dozen porters, a cook and Ang Dawa Sherpa. It is going to sweet.

If I can get a decent internet connection while in Kathmandu (before we fly out of here)...I'll upload some more video. I'll probably limit my video uploading to one or two videos a week while connecting with the BGAN...but I'll be uploading daily images and dispatches from the remote Arun valley, Everest Southside Base Camp and beyond.

If you subscribe to the Secret Spot Seven Summits blog...you will be able to virtually climb and trek with us. B^]

DO IT! =^]
