Durbar Square
Today is the seventh day of the great festival called
Dashain. The festival celebrates the victory of Lord Rana over the ten
headed demon Ravana...according to Hindu scripture.
At the same time...the goddess Durga killed the devil Chanda Munda.
In a nutshell, devotees celebrate the crushing of evil by the forces of good.

Taleju Bhawani Temple at Durbar Square
We walked through Durbar Square in the late afternoon rain today. This UNESCO World Heritage site was established in the 11th century, but the oldest surviving building dates back to the 16th century. Particularly interesting are the wooden carvings on some of the buildings that depict many scenes of positions of 'biological satisfaction'. That was my friend Kharel's description. That phrase is going to get some mileage...=^]

Kharel, Phill, Dana, Caroline escape the rain at the Roadhouse
We hope to soon be on our way and off on the Tilman Trek. This is a period of major holidays in Nepal...so things happen slowly. Patience is our virtue. =^]
If I can get a decent internet connection while in Kathmandu (before we fly out of here)...I'll upload some more video. I'll probably limit my video uploading to one or two videos a week while connecting with the BGAN...but I'll be uploading daily images and dispatches from the remote Arun valley, Everest Southside Base Camp and beyond.

Dana, Phill and Prakash prepare for the Tilman Trek
If you subscribe to the Secret Spot Seven Summits blog...you will be able to virtually climb and trek with us. B^]
DO IT! =^]
Until Soon
