Trail of Blood...
13 Nov, 08 - 03:55
Wellll...yesterday didn't quite go as planned...
Budi and I left Kenjoma at about 1030am. The walking was pretty much 'Nepali flat' and the weather was absolutely spectacular. It was clear, sunny and about 16 degrees C. Perfect for trekking. B^]

Looking towards Ama Dablam in the moonlight...near Kenjoma.
Budi was consistently walking about 30 seconds to a minute ahead of me...and we were both trying to get around the numerous yak and dzo trains that were all over the trail.
I came around a corner to find Budi looking a little perplexed. There was blood pouring out of his nose and mouth. When I gave him water, he would just vomit it back out. Not good. The other odd thing was that the blood flow wasn't stopping. Time for concern.
Since Budi doesn't speak much English and I don't speak much Nepali, I gave my best sign language attempt at telling him not to move...try and drink water...and wait for help. I told him I was going to go to Namche Bazaar quickly and find Dawa.

Budi isn't happy about all the blood
Off I went...stationary he stayed.
Thanks to the radios we use, I found Dawa quickly and we eventually got Budi onto a horse and to hospital.
It's about 9am on Thursday, November 13th...and I'm still in Namche...and I'm still waiting for Dawa and Budi to be able to leave the hospital. I'm not sure what the prognosis is...but I hope Budi is going to be OK. He's a nice, honest fellow and I hope this isn't a chronic condition he has developed!?
Time will tell...as it always does.
Dana and Caroline are likely down in Monjo wondering where the heck we are. They are scheduled to go to Lukla today...and if we get out of Namche soon enough, we might find ourselves walking all the way to Lukla too...today.
That's a bit of a hike from Namche. Que sera sera.

The road to Namche Bazaar
