Baby Monk and the Pizza Sherpa...
25 Nov, 08 - 16:03
Dawa and I were on a super secret mission today. Prior to commencement of the task, we had to consume vast quantities of pizza. I'm trying to re-gain the 30lbs I lost on the Tilman Trek! =^P

The Pizza Sherpa and Baby Monk
Late last week, Dawa also managed to capably deliver some gifts to our Sherpa crew that so handily took care of us throughout our trekking and climbing through the Arun Valley and Everest region.
Last Tuesday, we had a Sherpa feast to match the volume of goodness we have been bestowing. =^P
The post-Tilman Trek Sherpa Feast!
After we successfully completed part 1 of today's covert operation, we swung by the Pashupatinath to potentially connect with Kharel. There's a major Hindu festival centered there today. Kharel was there lighting a candle for loved ones who had passed...specifically his father.
Below is a video of Kharel showing us Durbar Square in October.
Kharel tells it like it is.
More about the fascinating Kharel in a future dispatch...=^]
We couldn't raise Kharel on the mobile telephone...so we immediately vacated the madness of the event. It was like 'Reggae on the River'...but in the Third World. There were hordes of people milling about...selling everything and burning candles. Neither Dawa nor I are into crowds...so we motored out of there with efficiency.
Kharel and Phill enjoy some quiet(er) times at La Dolce Vita
The traffic to return to the Kathmandu Guest House was outrageous. It was so bad that we had to walk a good part of the way...rather than sit in a stationary micro taxi. It was good to unfold myself from that contraption and stretch the legs. I did manage to step into a hole that was about three feet deep...while navigating some dark streets. The perils of KTM! B^]
I've got to 'get with' the Rhinos and Tigers soon. B^)
I'll see if I can get some retro-dispatches done this week...as I think we still might be at the Shangri-La in Pheriche!?
I hope you are continuing to virtually enjoying trekking and climbing in the Himalayas with us via the dispatches at www.secretspoteverest.com and/or my blog!?
If you have not subscribed...you should...right now. I invite you. =^)
Until Soon
