Rolling around Kathmandu on 'La Migra' day
The bags are packed...and we are on standby. B^]
The Dow popped over 8K at Friday's close. Things are looking up. B^]
I spent a couple of hours satisfying the Nepali Hat Men today...at the immigration office. Plenty of interesting folks there...from everywhere!
When Chris mirrors this dispatch in the Secret Spot Seven Summits blog (www.phillmichael.com) there will be a video snippet from 'La Migra'. This definitely isn't Kansas...but we are still just dust in the wind. =^] Click below to watch the video!
Phill visits 'La Migra' in Kathmandu, Nepal
Flights to Lukla (the traditional place to fly if one is starting an Everest climb or trek) have been backed up for three days...and flights to Phaplu are lower on the priority list for the Nepali airlines. Unusual and daily rains are falling in Kathmandu...while those folks at Everest Base Camp Nepal are getting an unusual amount of snow. For all intents and purposes...Tibet is still closed. Que sera sera.
We'll be enjoying a Twin Otter ride towards Dawa's village as soon as the weather and flying schedule allows. From road to air we go. B^]
It's been a good run on the mini-Time Machine. Macura Manchi and Lakpa (Dawa's kids) polished up the 'fat moped' for me this morn...so that more people can exclaim, "Hey...it's the Buddha on a shiny motorbike!"...as I speed on by. This happens regularly...especially when I take off my helmet. Smiles and chuckles all around. =^)

Reflecting upon the Time Machine
Exploring Nepal on two wheels is one of the most sensible things I have done in a while. Sure...the roads are terrible...and danger lurks around every, single corner...but what's life without a little excitement. If we nurture our fear it will grow larger than we can manage...so...just do it...intelligently! =^]
I am starting to get excited about getting back on THE Time Machine. The snows of the harsh winter of 2008/2009 should be just leaving as I return to the Cave of the Mongoose. Canada is lovely in the Spring. B^)
Between now and then, I'll be in a very remote part of Nepal. The village of Dawa's birth. If you have a few minutes, you can check out some images and such from our last visit...here:

Our new friend Kamal decided to visit us at the Kathmandu Guest House on Friday. I met him while checking out a cool Japanese school in February. Said school is a good model for our own construction plans. Our structures need not be that large...as we are only servicing 30 or so students...and they are going to be 'greener'.

The SherpaSchool.ORG is a going concern....and I expect that we will be very active in the wilderness for the whole month of April. Que bueno! I'll be beaming near daily dispatches via the BGAN...so you should subscribe to the Secret Spot Seven Summits blog (www.phillmichael.com) right now...and you can grow with us. I invite you! =^)
We added the dispatch frame to SherpaSchool.ORG...and we'll be adding content all month...as we literally lay the foundations for the project. You'll be able to meet the 30 or so kids who are eventually going to enjoy this unique educational environment. Join us. =^)
Hmmmmm...the Denali Freestyle Expedition is starting late next month. Chris, Dawa and I are going to traverse that massif while under the Midnight Sun. I suppose if you have the energy...you can virtually join us for that one too...B^]
Ahhh yes...we have a new team member at Secret Spot Seven Summits. The Thirteenth Warrior. You've seen them before...and later this week...you will see them in a dispatch...and added to our team page...B^]
Until Soon
