(top) Marita cleans up at pool (bottom) Phill connects with the BGAN from remote Sherpa Country
Our relatively uneventful arrival in Phaplu yesterday was followed by Dahl Bhat and pool. It was Sherpas against the Colonials (Phill from Kanadia and Marita from Oz). In a sudden death run for the 8 ball...Marita sunk it into the corner pocket...and we emerged victorious. Prizes were handed out...newspapers and radio stations were alerted...and I enjoyed my first 8 hour sleep in quite some time.
Thus far, I have been able to get a nice strong connection with the BGAN...so life is really good! B^)
Lunchtime...and the noodle soup was flowing. We grunted our way down...then up...from Sallery (ya...there are a few spellings of said town)...and onwards towards Gorakhani. I like Kathmandu...maybe too much...but it is certainly an extreme pleasure to be in Sherpa Country! B^)
The infants of Sallery, Nepal
It will be even better when the Sherpa School (SherpaSchool.ORG) is built!
We are now sitting comfortably in Dawa's uncle's house...about to eat more...wait for it...wait for it...you know what it's going to be...
DAAAAHL BHAAAAAT!! =^P
I've come to realize that of all the ethnicities of Nepal (there are over 30 ethnicities and 55 sub-ethnicities in Nepal)...the Sherpa people make the best Dahl Bhat. I've been in Nepal for 6.5 months. Trust me...I know.
Life is pure here. Pure water, pure food and clean living.
Hopefully it stays that way...and the machines of 'progress' get
permanently stuck in the puddle at the bottom of the hill. Time will
tell...as it always does.
We just checked in with Team Phuri and Phuri still has to wait a few more days before being admitted into hospital. We'll be monitoring the situation...daily. It sounds like Sunday is the next window of opportunity for Phuri's admission into the Heart Centre.

Denzi likes the Buddha Board
Tomorrow is going to be a total uphill day...so I'd best fuel up and get some rest...and maybe do some socializing with the Sherpa Clan...rather than mating with my Dell Mini Inspiron?! Yes...that's a good idea! Denzi (Dawa's nephew) is playing with his new Buddha Board...and it's about time for my first game of Scrabble for 2009...
Until Soon
Phill =^)
