Time to 'Zen out'...B^]

Marita and Phuri were frozen on Peekay Peak (4065m/13333ft)
The Sun is blazing in a clear Sherpa Sky on this Wednesday morning. I've managed to get a few things charged up...and there is plenty of activity from the locals with us leaving. We are at Urgen's house while I type. B^)
We managed to get to the top of Peekay Peak (4065m/13333ft) yesterday! It was far from sunny...and Marita and Phuri were walking popsicles. My super subcutaneous layer kept me warm...while I flew some prayer flags.
We had a 5000 vertical foot descent yesterday...which took much LESS out of me than I expected. Must be the Dahl Bhat diet?!
I'll do a retro dispatch about Peekay Peak and all when I am back at a terrestrial connection at the Kathmandu Guest House (KTM)...and include a video!
Phuri's (Dawa's nephew with the heart issue) surgery was bumped up to yesterday...rather than this coming Friday. I managed to talk to Dawa and Dr. Rabindra Tamala before and after the procedure by satellite phone. I'm pleased to report it was a success, so Phuri has already been extubated and is quite conscious.

Dende (Phuri's father) was also able to connect with Dawa via my BGAN and all the tension that was written on his normally serene face vanished. Dende's wife, Lakpa, was also laughing over some Chang last night. That's the first time I have ever seen her extremely jovial. Actually, it's the first time I have seen her laugh at all! Ramroz! (that's my best crack at spelling the Nepali word for 'Beautiful')
Dawa arrived in Kathmandu in the 'nick o' time'. He was not able to get a flight from Phaplu to KTM over the weekend, so he walked to Bandar and enjoyed a 16 hour bus ride to the Big Smoke(KTM). He arrived in Kathmandu on Monday night. =^o
Sixteen hour Nepali bus rides are no fun...period...but he survived. Maybe he needed a hospital visit anyway...after that ordeal. =^]
Regardless, Phuri is doing well...and I'll see him as soon as I get back to the city. We should be waiting for the Twin Otter in Phaplu by Thursday morning, but schedules constantly change with these rural flights...so we are just going to have to 'Zen out' and hope for the best.
(top) Dende and Lakpa hear good news from Dawa about their son, Phuri, via BGAN satellite phone (bottom) Urgen sports his Canadian Arctic Parka!
On another note, I finally delivered Urgen's custom Arctic Parka to him! Doug and Fran Ferrier of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada were good enough to donate that fine bit of warmth. Thanks again to the Ferriers! Urgen is in for a warm winter! B^)
