14000ft Camp - Tilman Trek Reloaded
2 Nov, 09 - 23:04

Oh...so the moon is full today. I haven't been paying attention...like I normally do. Food for thought. =^]
When we spend our days (and nights) in the big bad city, we tend not to focus on the celestial bodies that rule our lives. What am I talking about?! Think about it...=^]
Regardless...a little over a year ago...Caroline, Dana, Dawa and I...along with our Nepali crew...were staring at the heavens in amazement...while at 14000ft. B^)

Clear skies in October 2008 while at the summer herding grounds for the Yak
We also spent a morning in the summer herding grounds of Yak...while reflecting upon the lives of Sadhus (Hindu Holy Men) we had just met...who were making pilgrimmages to sacred lakes...kind of like we were...but with a different purpose...sort of...

Phill sending dispatches by BGAN satellite modem
A quick dispatch...as I need to hit the trail.

Early morning with 14000ft pass in righthand background(indicated by black arrow)
Monday was all about upward mobility. Bajee Namgel and I climbed through fog for hours and hours. It was great!

Bajee Namgell and Phill cruisin' through the fog

Climbing the steps to our future

A porter passing Mani stones

Sacred lakes are good places for reflection
We didn't start until 11am, but still managed to get to the 14000ft camp by 5pm. That camp is located in a huge cirque with waterfalls cascading into a creek. I'm tap typing from there right now. We've been up since dawn and there is finally some warm sun to warm our carcasses...and our batteries.

14000ft Camp at dusk on Monday, October 20th, 2008

The porters go marching one by one...hurrah...hurrah!
Hmmmm...1030am. I had better start trekking. I'll upload another dispatch later...with 'sunnier' images...B^)
Since there is a twelve hour difference in time between myself and the Super Fly Stanko Brothers...there might be a delay between the time I upload these dispatches and when they mirror the goods in the blog.
Regardless...if you are a subscriber to the Secret Spot Seven Summits Blog (www.phillmichael.com)...you'll get notification, by email, of updates when they happen.
If you haven't subscribed to the blog...you should...right now! =^]
Until Soon
