Voice Dispatch from the Summit of Mera Peak - Tilman Trek Reloaded
13 Mar, 10 - 03:16

Phill Michael and friends make their way towards fresh tracks at Island Lake Lodge in March 2003
As I go though my image and video archives from March 2003, I'm reminded that I've been granted this extension of life by the most innovative of individuals. My profuse thanks go out to them...each and every moment my Medtronic Freestyle Valve pumps precious lifeblood through my body.

Watching the above video took me right back to the powder filled slopes above Island Lake lodge, British Columbia, Kanadia...5 weeks after a nine hour heart surgery. If you ever really want to feel truly sore and out of breath, try recovering from a major surgery and being relatively sedentary for 40 days...then do 20,000 vertical feet of cat boarding. B^o

As I've mentioned many times in my writing, that science fiction we read about as children has become science fact. As a result, I've been granted the time to:
"Push the limits of science and medicine to inspire people to fulfill and achieve their goals, no matter what their pre-conceived limits.'
That's one of the missions of the Everest Freestyle Expedition and the Secret Spot Seven Summits Expeditions. It's wonderful to wake up every day and consider the future...because the future is NOW. B^)

The Future is without boundaries
Dana Engler and I were on the Skypulator this evening...discussing the 2011 Secret Spot Tilman Trek. We'll be in the Dolpa and Upper Mustang regions of Nepal for that one. As we look toward the end of next year, it's important to remember where we've come from. It always is. On that note...let's reflect upon summit day on Mera Peak, Nepal...while we were on the 2008 Secret Spot Tilman Trek.

Traffic Jam on the summit of Mera Peak
Here are some images from Thursday, October 30th...from the summit of Mera Peak. (6476m/21241ft)

Phill Michael takes his final steps to the summit of Mera Peak
We could not have asked for a more beautiful day to climb! B^)

I made two calls from the summit. The voice dispatch to Scott's voicemail and one to THE Queen. =^]

Phill uses the BGAN from the summit of Mera Peak (6476/21241) with Everest dominating in the background
We were able to clearly see all sorts of lofty peaks and it was quite satisfying to feel so purely fortunate. B^]
I'm uploading this dispatch from a 'lakeside' location. Frozen lake. We are enjoying a rest day at a very remote spot...en route to the near 20000ft/6000m Amphu Lapste La Pass.
I'll do separate dispatches about how we've spent our time since Mera...later today.
I hope you are virtually enjoying climbing in the Himalayas with us via the dispatches at www.secretspoteverest.com and/or my blog!?
If you have not subscribed...you should...right now. I invite you. =^)
Until Soon
