Uphill to Dingboche - SecretSpot.TV Reloaded!
13 May, 10 - 16:20

The healthy version of the Cave of the Mongoose...including the Time Machine! B^)
Mmmmm...in the Northern Hemisphere of our Big Blue Marble...the summer is threatening to stay for a while...so it's time to haul the two wheeled vehicles out of storage. If you have one, I suggest you change the oil...and make it (them?!) roadworthy. I know some folks who have been polishing spokes since November. More power to them. B^]
Summer is a fickle creature...and might 'pull stakes' after a visit of only a few months. Carpe Diem! B^)

An ancient Stupa presides over a rural landscape in Nepal
Nepal just went through a little shake up...on the political front. The power struggle continues. It is still the same beautiful country...filled with warm, beautiful, vibrant people!
Dawa is floating around the Pokhara region at the moment...while Dana, Chris, Steve and I work towards gaining more support for the SherpaSchool.ORG . We've got some more folks involved...so things are on target for success...and the not too distant future looks like goodness for 30 (or so) young Sherpas. If you are subscribed to the Secret Spot Seven Summits blog (www.phillmichael.com ), you will be introduced to our new supporters soon. B^]
If you haven't checked out the SherpaSchool.ORG ...I suggest you do. There's a fair bit of new video to enjoy.

Alex, Chris and I were gearing up for a trek to Everest Base Camp about this time of year in 2007. We thought we were going to the North Side Base Camp...but the politicians decided otherwise. Actually, some US passport holders decided they needed to make a spectacle of the situation in Tibet...and surreptitiously ride a media vehicle that they didn't own. It kind of ruined it for the rest of us. They know who they are. We soldiered on...and experienced a lovely time in Nepal in June 2007. It changed everything in our respective lives. We weren't, and still aren't, complaining.

If you want to review some of our pre-Everest Base Camp wanderings, you can roll on over to SecretSpot.TV ...and check out the links...as well as watch the video. Maybe you are too busy to take the time to do so?! Too bad...for you. B^]
Dingboche is getting more and more modern. While on the 2008 Secret Spot Tilman Trek , we noticed some conveniences that have been added to remote Nepal. There's a continued effort to make things more comfortable for the Tourist. Hmmmmm...
As I re-load SecretSpot.TV, I'm reminded that nothing beautiful can truly last...and that all simple things tend to get gentrified...and thusly destroyed. That might be viewed as a strong opinion. So?!?!
Until Soon
Phill =^)
